the details

01. Highlight film

Your Highlight film is the main film! This is considered what "wedding videography" is, and is the standard for the industry. Hopefully you've seen a few at this point! They are short and sweet, cinematic, fast paced, color graded, and set to music with audio overlaid! It's fully edited and polished, and is where we get to shine as artists! It showcases your whole day in a few minutes and features all the highlights of your day from prep, to vows, to your send off. This film is an easy way to share your celebration with friends and family. Watch our portfolio to see examples of these on our films page!

02. Documetnary FIlm

Our Documentary Film will feature your full ceremony, reception speeches and first dances from beginning to end! Whereas your Highlight Film will feature some of the best clips of these moments, this film is intended to document the entire portions so you can watch it back and relive the most special parts of your day. It's an edited film with our professional audio and color grading with multiple angles intermixed, but nothing is cut out! For example, the ceremony portion covers everything processional to recessional so if your Ceremony is 34 minutes long, then that part of your Documentary film will be 34 minutes long.

We loved working with Birch and Blush! Our video turned out perfectly and we had such a great experience during the day too! We highly recommend them!

why Videograpy?

They say a picture is a thousand words, well a video is literally a thousand pictures. It's one of the only investments in your celebration that lives beyond the 24 hour day. Once the cake is eaten, clothes dirty and the flowers wilting, the video will help you remember those things for how they were. It adds value to everything else you planned by allowing you to relive them down the road and share them with people who couldn't be a part of it.

alpine

Our Alpine Collection is our most budget-friendly option, for those who are looking for a simple wedding videography experience with one beautiful film to capture the day.

which package should i choose?

evergreen

Our Evergreen Collection Collection is our most popular collection. This features a longer highlight film plus the addition of a documentary for your full ceremony, toasts and first dances.

timberline

Our Timberline Collection features the best value in not only a Highlight Film but a full feature Documentary Film to showcase every aspect of your day. This option will leave you wanting nothing, as the most inclusive wedding package.

COMMON QUESTIONS

We are based in Denver, but cover the greater area from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs! If you're reading this guide, then we've already checked your venue location so you're all good to go!

We deliver digitally so that you have it as soon as it's ready! No need to wait in the mail for a USB that might just corrupt anyways. As soon as your films are ready you will receive an email from us where you can immediately watch, download and share your films!

Our average turnaround for your films is 8-12 weeks, but you have our guarantee that it will never be later than 16 weeks! We will deliver all films concurrently once everything is finalized and know you are eager to see your film and will complete them as quickly as possible while maintaining our high standard of editing.

Yes! We offer two payment options.

1. Our payment plan will split your cost into 3 payments. One third to reserve the date, one third at the halfway point before your date, and the final third 1 month before the big day!

2. Our upfront option is if you're able to make a full payment at the time of booking then we offer Raw Footage for Free (no substitutions) as a way to say thanks for helping us save time on sending payment reminders! This usually costs $300 as an la carte add-on, but will be included at no cost for any collection if the initial booking is upfront.

To help out we offer payments through our online proposal via e check or with credit card for no additonal fees.

At this time, we book out every single weekend, and do not offer any form of discounts or customizations to keep everything fair and consistent for all our couples. Rather than raising our regular price to be able to offer discounts to certain couples, we offer no discounts, so that every couple can take advantage of our best rate. We offer very competitive pricing for the high quality of films that we offer, and know that we do our best job when our couples prioritize us as much as we do them. For these reasons we offer set pricing for all our collections.

We offer several a la carte customizations you will find listed underneath our Collections so you can tailor your collection to exactly what you're looking for!

However, we do not offer removing anything from our packages and we do not offer discounts for any unused hours or cheaper packages with less hours.

Yes! If you would like to have coverage on multiple days, we offer a flat fee of $1500 per additional day for up to 6 hours of coverage with one shooter.

We do not offer cheaper options for shorter rehearsal coverage, as you must keep in mind that our shooters work on a day rate, and cannot simply use the extra hours to go and film another wedding on the same day. When filming for you, the whole day including filming, traveling and preparing equipment is dedicated to you and they would otherwise be filming a full wedding.

Of course! We allow you to upgrade your entire Collection or any of our a la carte add-ons all the way up to 2 months out from the wedding day. We know that most couples booking a year or more out from the big day may not have all the information needed to make a final decision when it comes to options affected by budget and timeline. Simply reserve your date with what you know, and upgrade later!

There are two main aspects to your film, the style, and the quality. Quality is the portion we have the most control over. This is why we do what we do. Style on other hand is where you can weigh in! After all, your wedding is unique, and we hope to capture all the ways in which it is. It's not just a cookie-cutter wedding film, it's YOUR special day! In the final months leading up to your day we will discuss final details, and we welcome your style input! That way our team can go into shooting and editing with all your ideas in mind. Whether that's letting us know about a special guest you want extra focus on, or saying that you're most excited about your sunset couple's session. You can give us notes about the overall "vibe" you're hoping to capture, whether that's fun, serious, romantic, silly, candid etc... Your choice of music will also have the largest impact on the vibe and pace of the film. Feel free to watch through our portfolio to see many examples of different styles past couples have requested. You can give us as many or as few notes as you'd like. Overall, our portfolio will also showcase what style we bring to the table. Our goal is to build a film that reflects your day, your relationship and your story!

In our final questionnaire a few months prior, you will select which hours you would like to designate for coverage! However, what most couples do, and what we recommend for our best work is to begin coverage with the final 30 minutes of hair and makeup. No need to cover what may be hours of getting ready, it's only the final touchups that we need! Then we will continue coverage through the remainder of prep, into the ceremony, and through the reception. We suggest ending the night with a send-off, in which case our shooters would conclude coverage after that is complete. However, if you're not interested in a send-off and instead want to leave the dance floor open into the evening, we recommend an hour of coverage on the dance floor! After all, your wedding film will feature the dance floor, but by no means will it be half of the film, so it's unnecessary to capture 3 hours of dancing anyways! But don't let timeline details stress you out too early! We will go over all the final details a few months out from the big day and for now, the only thing to focus on is getting your date booked!

Our approach is centered around one fact, it's your wedding day! We know this is not a Hollywood production, it's your special day and we want you to enjoy it! We know most weddings these days have two photographers and two videographers, so you will have somewhat of a small entourage following you around for the day. We don't want it to feel like you have cameras constantly in your face! Of course, we'll give some helpful direction here and there in order to help create the best film for you, but we won't ask you to do something 6 times over just for the shot, and intentionally limit our direction to only the most impactful tips! We want to capture everything in the most genuine way possible and not be overbearing or distracting. We know most people have never worked with videography before!

No! This is of course a question that would apply to other freelancers in the industry, however, all shooters on our team are trained and instructed to film in the same style/quality (aside from your personal style requests) so that all our films represent our brand, and are consistent. It doesn't matter which member of our team is behind the camera for your day, you can expect a film that will be customized to your ideas and representative of the work in our portolio.

A common misconception is couples asking to see our shooter's individual portfolios. In reality, our final films aren't even considered their "work". Instead, they follow our instructions day-of, and don't do any of the editing or important decision making (this is where the magic happens). They are essentially just our hands on the wedding day! It's similar to how movies work. After all, you call it a Steven Spielberg film, not the name of the camera operator. Of course, we only work with shooters who meet our high standards, but what makes it "Harbor and Lace" is us!

At the end of the day, keep in mind that it's our portfolio that matters most! If you like our films, then leave the details to us. But for those tech buffs out there we're happy to give some insight to our process.

For main filming, we don't require every shooter use the same camera, but have a few different approved cameras that our team uses. We are mostly filming on a mirrorless camera in 1080p between a mix of FPS based on the content such as the Sony A7Siii, Canon R6, Blackmagic Pocket 6k Pro, or Panasonic GH5. Depending on the camera, we use either in-body stabilization or a handheld gimbal/monopod.

We refrain from using artificial lighting because we feel a more genuine approach best serves the kind of event such as a wedding. There's nothing worse than putting a spotlight on your guests to clear a dance floor and kill a party. No one wants to dance in perfect lighting, especially after a few drinks. There's a reason you turn down the venue lights in the first place. We're not here to shoot a corporate interview, this is your wedding day and we want to maintain the vibe you're creating in the first place!

For audio, we will bring lavalier microphones that are small and will fit inside the jacket or back pants pocket of the officiant and groom for capturing ceremony audio (no need to worry about trying to hide a mic in your wedding dress). That way they are discreet, and we won't be interfering with the aesthetics of your decor with distracting equipment. We will use these same mics for any other audio throughout the day such as toasts, letter reading etc... The mics are self contained, and will not interfere with any event audio equipment set up by your venue or DJ since they are not transmitting a frequency.

For the majority of the process, you are working with me, your wedding memories manager! I oversee the entire process to make sure communication is easy and efficient for you, and all of our films represent the quality of our brand. I will work through all the planning details together with you before the big day to ensure we understand your vision, timeline and needs. Then I will prepare each member of our shooting team with all the details they need for their role in your special day!

The wedding day you will meet our shooting team ( 1 or 2 shooters depending on Collection). They complete all of the day-of filming, but you will also be given a special day-of emergency access number to contact us directly for peace of mind.

To keep costs low for you, we do not offer prior meetings directly with our shooters. They work full time filming, and do not take phone calls as they devote the full day of coverage to each event. However, they will be fully briefed ahead of time on all the details of your event so you can simply communicate any needs or preferences with us, and we in turn coordinate the roles of both our filmers and editor based on your requests. They simply work for us, and cannot make decisions regarding your project individually which is why we are available to you directly to coordinate details and manage your full project from booking to delivery!

After the wedding, we work with our editor to complete your film, and you will hear from us the moment everything is completed and it's time to re-live your special day!

Having 2 shooters offers many benefits, including extra footage and angles of every moment, redundancy in case of emergency, and coverage of simultaneous moments such as prep or the groom's reaction while the bride walks down the aisle. The extra footage helps create a much more dynamic and complete film.

We've worked with hundreds of venues/photographers so please don't ask me this on the phone, because it's far too many to remember off the top of my head, haha! If you're curious, we do list the venue and location in our online portfolio so you're welcome to search your area and see if we have worked with your specific venue prior. However, the true answer is that it doesn't matter. There are multitudes more venues than videographers since we are a newer industry so we work with several new venues each and every weekend! The venue is truly just the background. We bring everything we need and are prepared for every kind of shooting situation. Familiarity with the venue has no bearing on our work, and we don't need any sort of prior walkthrough to do our best work. Not to mention, most of what pertains to us (lighting, timeline, decor etc...), changes from wedding to wedding anyways! Our team is ready to work at whichever venue you've chosen, and can get easily aquatinted upon arrival.

Similar with photographers and can easily communicate everything we need day-of, and so can they! No need to meet or have any sort of prior relationship. It's a very standard working relationship and we both know what each other needs, and simply work side by side throughout the day. We allow your photography team to take the lead with posing and direction (since they typically prefer this), and work together to capture footage simultaneously so you can spend less time in your portrait session and more time with your guests! We are happy to work with any photo team you choose!

Thanks to the music industry, unfortunately, it's not as easy as overlaying your favorite song. That would actually be illegal copyright infringement. However, we do work with a music licensing company who curates songs just for wedding films! We have a large playlist of thousands of options which you are free to choose from, or if you'd like us to choose for you, our editor is professionally trained to do so! You can select music in the final planning stages with us when we send over our final questionnaire a few months prior!

Yes! If your venue requires proof of liability insurance, we are happy to generate a custom COI with them listed as an additional insured party. We will provide the policy to your venue at no cost (as long as you inform us no later than 30 days prior to the event), which covers $2,000,000 per occurrence and $4,000,000 aggregate. Please let us know as soon as you are aware of their requirement so we can collect their details and send a certificate over to them for approval by their deadline. We charge a $50 rush fee for providing a COI within 30 days of the event.

They were SO organized, so on top of it, and made sure they got all the shots we asked for. We just got our film back and it's edited BEAUTIFULLY. It captures the entire day in just a few minutes and I felt like I relived our entire wedding.
